Volunteer Signups

2008 FYB Tournament Volunteer Information

Please read this information!

All families are required to sign up for a minimum of 2 hours of volunteer time per family not per child playing in the organization. If you are a FYB Board Member, League Commissioner, Head or Asst. Coach, or Volunteer Coordinator or Manager, then you have already fulfilled your volunteer time. All other families must work a minimum of 2 hours at the concession stands. The 3 choices for concession time are during the end of the season tournaments which are: Saturday, July 12 for the K-1 league at North Trail fields, July 18-20 for the 2, 3 & 8-10 leagues at ARES fields or July 25-27 for the 4-5 & 6-7 leagues at FMSE & FMSW fields. The shifts will be 1 hour long and you choose which weekends and shifts you would like to volunteer to work at. You may choose to work all shifts consecutively or break it up over the 3 weekends.

Sign up early to get the shift that you want! You can sign up for any of the 3 weekends not just the weekend your child plays. Due to the 2-10 leagues being double elimination tournaments, there is no way to tell you when for sure your child will be playing other than most teams will have a game on Friday night. K-1 teams will play one game on Saturday.

For the 2008 season, you have these options for volunteering:

Tournament Concession Stand - easy 1 hour shifts to sell concessions or grill concession food.

Tournament Set Up or Take Down & Load Trailer - Friday afternoon, Saturday morning or Sunday evening for 1-2 hours.

Equipment Check-in - 2 hour shifts on Saturday or Sunday of checking in all equipment bags from coaches and preparing them for storage. These shifts are on the online signups.

Apparel Sales - 2 hour shifts on Saturday or Sunday to sell FYB apparel at the tournaments. Volunteers should sign in at the concession stand. These shifts are on the online signups.

Field Dragging & Paint Lines - 2 hour shifts on Saturday or Sunday to drag the infields and paint the foul and batter box lines. Volunteers should sign in at the concession stand. These shifts are on the online signups.

Trophy Coordinator - Order trophies for tournaments, pick them up from store, organize them for the tournament, and help to disburse at tournament. Need 3 volunteers one for each weekend of tournaments. Please email inhousebaseball@farmingtonsports.org if you are interested in one of these positions.

Asst. Photo Coordinator - Take pictures throughout tournament weekend for website. Take photos of all 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams to submit to Farmington Independent. 3 volunteers are needed one for each weekend. These volunteers will work with the Photo Coordinator. Please email inhousebaseball@farmingtonsports.org if interested in one of these positions.

Tournament Directors - Help to oversee and run concessions tournament weekends. Would like at least 3 volunteers to work with the Tournament Manager. One volunteer each weekend would "manage" the concession stand including making sure that food supplies are monitored and replaced and set up and take down is done for each weekend and report back to the Tournament Manager. These positions are vital to having concessions at the tournaments. Please email inhousebaseball@farmingtonsports.org if interested in these positions.

* Click on the "volunteer sign up" link below. This will take you to a page where you can choose which concession shift you would like to work. If you want to volunteer for a coordinator position, please email us at inhousebaseball@farmingtonsports.org

* On the signup page, find which day and time you would like to volunteer.

* Type your name and your telephone number, click on the "sign Me Up" button and you are done! Please make sure that you know what you are signing up for because you will not be able to go online and make changes.

* You will not be called to confirm. We need your telephone number in case of bad weather or other schedule changes! Please remember to show up for your shift! Anyone who doesn't show up WILL have their $50 volunteer check cashed.

* You are responsible for finding your own replacement if you find you cannot work the shift you signed up for! Make sure to go into the signup page and sign up for another shift or trade with someone. Please email inhousebaseball@farmingtonsports.org to update us on any switching of shifts so that our lists are accurate for tracking volunteers.

* Please note:

* The first weekend of tournaments is for the K-1 league and will be held at North Trail Fields. The following weekend, July 18-20 will be for the 2, 3, & 8-10 leagues tournaments and will be held at ARES Fields. The last weekend of tournaments will be for the 4-5 and 6-7 leagues and will be held at the Farmington Middle School West fields for 4-5 and the Farmington Middle School East fields for 6-7 July 25-27. A full concession stand will be at FMSW with 2 grills. A smaller concession stand will be held at FMSE with 1 grill.
